In the heart of wine‑growing Vinodol, in Novi Vinodolski, the Wine Rose of Vinodol will spring back to life – a festival that for over two decades has celebrated the beauty, dedication, and rich winemaking tradition of this region.

Inspired by a real custom from the time of the Frankopans, when after the grape harvest the most diligent and beautiful female picker – Rose – (Wine Rose) was chosen, today the event brings together young women who compete over three days in a variety of engaging disciplines. From viticulture skills and household tasks to wine pouring and presentation, the competitions blend tradition, skill, and entertainment.

Although weather isn’t in our favor this year, the Wine Rose of Vinodol will go ahead in an adjusted program. The competition will begin not on Thursday, August 21, but instead on Friday, August 22 at 20:00 in the vineyards of Pavlomir Wine House, where ten contestants will demonstrate their winemaking prowess. The event will be hosted by Irena Grdinić and Iva Vavan, with musical ambiance provided by Trio Nebuloza and Group Trend. Visitors can look forward to a rich gastronomic offering and an unforgettable atmosphere under the open skies of the vineyards. Simultaneously, in the town center at Korzo hrvatskih branitelja, the band Insula will perform, and Frankopan Square will host a Wine Festival showcasing winemakers from Kvarner, Croatia, and Serbia—with a wealth of flavors and styles—while Vinodol Law Square will come alive with demonstrations of traditional crafts and a fair of local products. All of Novi Vinodolski will pulse with the spirit of Wine Rose of Vinodol.

The grand finale will take place on Saturday, August 23 at 21:00 in the Old Town. Accompanied by Trio Nebuloza, the finalists will compete in the concluding disciplines of wine pouring and presentation, and the evening will culminate in the crowning of the Wine Rose of Vinodol 2025. Around 23:00, on Korzo hrvatskih branitelja, the winner, first and second runner‑up, and the “most charming Rose”, as voted by participants and the judging panel, will be announced. Prizes are generous: the Wine Rose of Vinodol winner will receive a cruise on the Adriatic for two. Antonio Krištofić and his band will provide the evening’s musical entertainment, while the town center will once again host a wine festival, traditional crafts, and local products. A special local dish will be featured: “Novljanski pijat,” crafted uniquely for this occasion by Antonia Mikac, blending potatoes, sardines, žlahtina (grape/wine), purslane, onion, and dried figs.
