State Open Hunting Ground: VIII/9 – “Krmpote – Ledenice”
This hunting ground belongs to the Mediterranean-mountain type and covers the southwestern part of Velika Kapela in the area of the City of Novi Vinodolski. Hunting is possible from sea level up to an altitude of 850 meters. The terrain includes high karst zones with most karst phenomena. The hunting ground is located in a sub-Mediterranean climate, with the most dominant vegetation being the community of downy oak and hop hornbeam.
Hunting ground area: total 5,963 ha, of which 5,322 ha is designated for hunting.
Game in the hunting ground: Red deer, Roe deer, Wild boar, Mouflon, Brown bear.
Secondary game species significant for hunting include: European hare, Red fox, Rock partridge, and Beech marten, while migratory species include the Woodcock. Notably, this hunting ground is home to all three of Croatia’s large predators – in addition to the Brown bear, both the Wolf and the Lynx inhabit this area.
The hunting ground features 14 watering holes, 60 salt licks, 5 automatic feeders, and 2 denning sites for bears, as well as 4 high enclosed hunting stands and a hunting lodge. Pasture areas for game are regularly mowed, and supplementary feeding is carried out during the hunting season.
State Open Hunting Ground: VIII/8 – “Košutnjak”
The hunting ground covers the hilly and mountainous slopes of the Velika Kapela massif, which mostly descend southward toward the Vinodol Channel. To the southwest, it borders the Vinodol Valley. To the east, it extends to the Novi – Breze road, and to the west, it reaches the Bribir – Lukovo road.
Hunting ground area: total 6,038 ha, of which 4,270 ha is designated for hunting.
Game in the hunting ground: Roe deer, Red deer, Wild boar, European hare, Brown bear.
Secondary game species significant for hunting include: Red fox, Beech marten, Eurasian jay, and Hooded crow, while migratory species include the Woodcock, Common quail, and Stock dove.
The hunting ground features 7 feeding stations, 34 watering holes, 90 salt licks, 8 automatic feeders, 9 high enclosed hunting stands, 12 elevated ambush points, 2 hunting lodges, 3 food storage facilities, and 2 hunting offices.
