The Tourist Board of the City of Novi Vinodolski, the City of Novi Vinodolski, the Underwater Activities Association Novi, and the Dive Side Diving Center will once again organize a sea and environmental cleanup campaign to mark Earth Day, under the name:
Let’s protect the sea, preserve the environment, and take care of Novi!

The celebration will take place from April 20th to 28th, featuring a series of activities. The program will also include the National Museum and Gallery, Municipal Company Ivanj, Hunting Associations Gradina and Košutnjak-Novi, San Marino Volunteer Fire Department, Fijolica Kindergarten, and the Ivan Mažuranić Elementary School.

The kickoff event will be an underwater cleanup on Saturday, April 20th, taking place in Klenovica, at the Main City Beach in Novi Vinodolski, and in the area of Pod Barana. The diving center and underwater activities club have invited fellow divers from neighboring towns to join the effort.
Divers will gather at 8:00 AM for a briefing, and the action will begin at 10:00 AM.
The municipal company will provide large containers and trucks for waste removal, while the Elementary School will also take part.
Student environmentalists from the school will monitor the cleanup — in Novi Vinodolski under the guidance of teacher Tijana Mali Jovanović, and in Klenovica under teachers Sanja Pavelić and Marija Balić.

On Sunday, April 28th, the hunting associations Gradina and Košutnjak-Novi will also join the effort, organizing cleanups in the most polluted areas of their hunting grounds, supported by Municipal Company Ivanj.
In doing so, they will contribute to the campaign and raise awareness about illegal dumping, which harms both wildlife and plants — and ultimately, humans as well.

Beyond cleaning the sea and the environment, a variety of lectures, eco-activities, and workshops will be organized at the Elementary School and Kindergarten, aiming to raise awareness about environmental protection from an early age.
Velimir Vrzić will once again give educational talks to schoolchildren, who will also help clean the coastline, parks, and school grounds.
The Mornaris Association will organize an exhibition titled “Treasures of the Adriatic Seabed” for primary school pupils and kindergarten children, held in the school courtyard.

This unique and educational exhibition includes 225 specimens from 65 species — including shells of Adriatic mollusks and snails, crustacean exoskeletons, and coral, echinoderm, and sponge skeletons.
It features six strictly protected species by law, which the children will learn about through engaging, interactive presentations on April 22nd and 23rd.
A special highlight is the exhibition’s location inside a large touring bus, which travels throughout Croatia and brings this fascinating educational experience to thousands of children — a one-of-a-kind concept in Croatia’s education system.

Kindergarteners will take part in parent-child workshops, visit the recycling yard for an educational session with Ivanj staff, learn about the harmful effects of waste and the importance of protecting Adriatic biodiversity, and create their own eco storybooks.
On Earth Day itself, they will share eco messages during a city walk, accompanied by a fashion show and a performance of the eco anthem “Sort Your Trash, Clean Your World”.

To include the general public, the City of Novi Vinodolski will host an exhibition at Turnac Gallery titled “Reflection of Indifference”.
It will be open from Monday, April 22nd to Friday, April 26th, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with free admission.

The exhibition is a collaboration between the City of Novi Vinodolski, Turnac Gallery, the City Tourist Board, and the Dive Side Diving Club.
Through a photographic journey documenting waste found in the sea and natural surroundings, the exhibition calls for ecological responsibility — toward ourselves, our health, and future generations, to whom we owe a clean and livable environment.
