Mayor Tomislav Cvitković and the Director of the Tourist Board, Tena Peričić, welcomed the Heidenreich family – Mrs. Marlene and her son Dirk – at the City Hall. The meeting was initiated as a gesture of gratitude to the Heidenreich family for their 60 years of visiting Novi Vinodolski from their hometown of Hanover.

The Heidenreich family first came to Novi Vinodolski in 1965, and as Mrs. Marlene says, it was love at first sight with the town of Novi Vinodolski. Her son Dirk, also a passionate admirer of the city, is well known to many of our citizens as a great humanitarian – founder of the Deutsche Feuerwehrhilfe initiative, or the organization “German Firefighters Help”. Over the past 10 years, they have supported Novi’s firefighters by donating three vehicles and a large contingent of valuable firefighting equipment. It is also worth mentioning that Dirk, even during the Homeland War, collected and delivered important donations to firefighters and the Red Cross in our region.
