First steps of the Camino Crikvenica–Vinodol section – 12 km along the sea
We invite you to the first Advent Camino Crikvenica–Vinodol, a special edition of our new pilgrimage route, taking place on Sunday, December 7th, 2025.
This short but spiritually rich pilgrimage will also serve as an introduction to the future four-day Camino Crikvenica–Vinodol, connecting Senj with Jadranovo along an 85-km route scheduled for 2026.
This December, we will take our first steps along a 12-km section — from Crikvenica to Jadranovo, accompanied by the sound of waves and the scent of the sea, in the peaceful atmosphere of Advent.
Gathering takes place in front of the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Crikvenica, with Holy Mass beginning at 8:00 AM. After Mass, participants will set off toward Jadranovo. The route leads through the center of Crikvenica, right by the sea, continuing along the balustrade toward Crikvenica City Beach.
The path then reaches Dramalj, where the coastal promenade offers stunning views of the island of Krk and the Kvarner Bay. From there, the route continues to Kačjak, a small peninsula known for its viewpoints and picturesque coves — ideal for a short stop, prayer, and reflection. Here begins the most attractive part of the Trail of Waves — a seaside walkway dedicated to the sea, the waves, and the bond between people and nature. Several spots along the way invite pilgrims to pause, reflect, and draw inspiration from the beauty of simplicity.
The final part of the Camino leads to Jadranovo, once a settlement of sailors and fishermen. The pilgrimage ends at the Church of St. James, the patron saint of pilgrims and a symbolic destination for every Camino. All participants will be welcomed with a communal meal, friendly gathering, and organized bus transport back to the center of Crikvenica.
Our Advent Camino follows the coastline — between the deep blue sea and the quiet of a winter morning. We will walk familiar promenades that in December radiate a special calmness, offering a chance to give thanks, reflect, and prepare the heart for Christmas.
Whether you have already walked one of the Croatian Caminos or are just beginning your pilgrimage journey, we invite you to join us at this symbolic beginning of the Camino Crikvenica–Vinodol — a path that brings together faith, community, and the beauty of our region.
