The Tourist Board of the City of Novi Vinodolski has once again joined the national project of the Croatian National Tourist Board “Croatia Naturally Yours,” aimed at promoting sustainable tourism development and preserving the natural environment. The project focuses on offsetting carbon dioxide emissions resulting from the increased number of car arrivals, and includes the procurement, planting, and monitoring of the growth of native seedlings.

Participants’ responsibilities include the proper planting of trees adapted to the local climate, their continuous care and monitoring, as well as marking each planted tree with the sustainable tourism label “Croatia Naturally Yours.” All data on the planted seedlings is also entered into the European Environment Agency’s MapMyTree application, contributing to the global collection of information on tree planting.

This year, the Tourist Board of the City of Novi Vinodolski, in cooperation with the City of Novi Vinodolski, the municipal company IVANJ d.o.o., and the Fijolica Kindergarten, has greened the kindergarten’s yard by planting a total of 25 trees. Holm oaks (Quercus ilex), stone pines (Pinus pinea), downy oaks (Quercus pubescens), and smoke trees (Cotinus coggygria) were planted, further enhancing the environment in which the children spend their time and offering them an additional opportunity to learn about nature and the importance of environmental preservation.

This planting activity continues long-standing efforts aimed at creating new green areas, improving quality of life, and ensuring the long-term preservation of the destination’s natural values.

The project “Croatia Naturally Yours” demonstrates how small but thoughtful steps can significantly contribute to protecting the environment, enriching the beauty of a destination, and building a sustainable future.
