15. September 2023.
Croatia and its tourist destinations have been nominated in as many as four categories of the prestigious Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards competition: Best European Destination, Best European City, Best European Island, and Best European Regions. In the Best European Destination category, Croatia is competing with countries such as France, Greece, Italy, Monaco, Spain, Turkey, and others. Dubrovnik is competing for the title of Best European City, Hvar is nominated in the category of Best European Islands, while Istria, Dalmatia, and the Croatian islands are strong contenders for the title of Best European Region.
According to the Croatian National Tourist Board office in London, online voting is open until 18 October this year, while the awards ceremony and announcement of the results will take place in London on 7 November during the World Travel Market (WTM), the world’s leading travel trade show, where Croatia traditionally presents its full tourism offer.
“Participating in such a strong competition is a great recognition for our country as a destination firmly positioned on the global tourism map. This is also confirmed by last year’s awards and results – for example, Dubrovnik was declared the most desirable tourist city in Europe, while Croatia ranked an impressive 5th place in the Most Desirable European Destination category, surpassing countries such as Austria, Switzerland, Portugal, Germany, and Scotland. Among the highlighted destinations was also the island of Hvar, which ranked 7th in the Top 10 European Island Destinations category,” stated the CNTB London office, inviting all travel lovers to vote for Croatia and its destinations.
This is a prestigious recognition and awards ceremony for the most desirable destinations, tour operators, and airlines from around the world, organized by Wanderlust – one of the most well-known and oldest travel magazines in the world. This year’s competition also introduces new categories for destinations promoting culture, gastronomy, pristine nature, and sustainable travel experiences. As travelers increasingly seek meaningful and responsible travel that creates unforgettable memories, a list of categories has also been introduced for tour operators offering cultural, adventure, nature-based, and other specialized travel experiences.
There is also competition among voters, who have the chance to win one of 11 valuable prizes totaling £40,000. These include a trip to the Galapagos Islands, a tour of Uzbekistan’s Silk Road cities, an adrenaline-filled adventure in Costa Rica, train tickets for the Rocky Mountaineer to Red Rocks in the USA, and much more. Such an impressive prize pool is an excellent incentive to participate in the vote.
