In the year when Novi Vinodolski celebrates 145 years of organized tourism, the most colorful event of the year is also celebrating its round anniversary.

We are excited to announce the Great International Summer Carnival, which this year celebrates its 30th anniversary! In the center of our beautiful town, three decades of incredible fun, creativity, and joy will be celebrated.

This year’s Great International Summer Carnival brings a rich and diverse program, with the main event being the carnival parade that will march through the town’s streets.

Carnival events start on June 27th with an exhibition of photographs from the summer carnival. The exhibition will be open at the Tourist Information Center of the Tourist Board of Novi Vinodolski and along the Croatian Veterans’ Promenade, where you will be able to view a retrospective of 30 years of the summer carnival throughout the entire carnival week. The opening of the exhibition will be on Tuesday at 7:00 PM in the TIC Novi Vinodolski. The exhibition offers insight into the wealth and variety of costumes, masks, and moments that have defined our event. Discover how the carnival has developed over the years and remember the most beautiful moments.

The first of three joyful days begins on Thursday, June 29th, with a carnival prelude, featuring six DJs from the DJ Academy on two stages, playing various genres of music. To enhance the atmosphere, disco balls will be placed around the stages, ensuring that the fun starts at 7:00 PM.

Traditionally, on Friday, June 30th, the children’s carnival parade will pass through the town. The masked parade starts at 8:00 PM, and around 400 joyful children’s masks will brighten the Croatian Veterans’ Promenade. After the cheerful parade, there will be a children’s program at Ivan Mažuranić Square, as well as entertainment for adults on two stages. The music part of the program will be provided by the bands Trend and Trio Family. In addition to the masked groups, all children outside of the groups are invited to mask up and join the parade, walking through our promenade.

Saturday is, of course, reserved for the grand finale of the carnival and the Great International Parade, which this year will feature 34 carnival groups with over 1000 cheerful masks. Astronauts, mermaids – queens of the sea, and Tom Cruise flying across the promenade in his F-14 jet will pass along the Croatian Veterans’ Promenade. We won’t reveal all the masks just yet, but we are sure you’ll be thrilled by the colorful display of costumes, and the best and most creative mask will win a great prize. The masked parade begins at 8:00 PM, and the fun will continue with music on three stages, provided by the bands Insula, Venus, and Unique.

We are sure that fun will be guaranteed until the early morning hours throughout the whole week of carnival events, and it’s up to you to join us on this unforgettable journey through colors, sounds, and imagination!
