Exhibition Programme of the Turnac City Gallery – Alba Miočev
The exhibition season of the Turnac City Gallery will begin with the opening of the solo exhibition by Alba Miočev entitled Odmatam-zamatam, taking place on 3 June at 8:30 PM, while the exhibition itself will be open to visitors from 3 to 14 June. In her recent works, Alba Miočev develops a painterly and spatial language based on subtle shifts between recognizable scenes and their gradual destabilisation. Starting from fragments of interiors, flora, and everyday scenes, the artist creates a visual space that never reaches final stability, but instead remains in a continuous process of emergence, layering, and reshaping.
The exhibition brings together oil paintings on canvas and textile works through which the relationship between form and its disintegration, between control and spontaneity of gesture, is explored. Lines, contours, and rhythms do not close into a final image, but remain open to change and variation. Particular importance is given to the very processual nature of the work – traces of brushstrokes, their repetitions, interruptions, and transformations become carriers of meaning just as much as the motifs they suggest.
Alba Miočev’s works do not function as definitive representations of reality, but as delicate visual structures that continuously change in relation to space, material, and the viewer’s perception. In the dialogue between canvas and textile, a relationship is established between different degrees of image stability, while the exhibition opens up space for reflecting on the very nature of the image as something that remains in-between – between appearance and disappearance, construction and disintegration, presence and withdrawal.
Alba Miočev was born in 1994 in Zadar. She graduated in painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb and further developed her artistic practice through Erasmus+ programmes in Belfast and Berlin. She has exhibited in numerous group and solo exhibitions and is the recipient of the Erste Fragmenti 18 Award and the Grand Prix Erste Fragmenti 20. Alongside classical painting, she is also actively engaged in mural art, and currently lives and works in Zagreb.
Turnac Gallery is open from Monday to Saturday in two time slots, from 9 AM to 12 PM and from 7 PM to 10 PM. The gallery is closed on Sundays and public holidays. Admission to all exhibitions is free.
