OPEN-AIR CINEMA – Stranger Than Paradise
Eva (E. Balint), a teenage girl from Hungary, visits her cousin Willie (J. Lurie), who lives alone in a bleak suburb of New York. Later, she leaves to stay with their aunt in Cleveland.
At first, Willie seems unimpressed by his European relative, but he soon grows fond of Eva and forms a warm bond with her. Willie’s friend Eddie (R. Edson) also meets Eva – and likes her.
When Eva leaves, and the two friends happen to win a decent amount of money by cheating at poker, they decide to visit her in Cleveland…
“Stranger Than Paradise” is one of Jim Jarmusch’s most acclaimed films – his second feature, and the one that brought him major critical recognition.
