In Novi Vinodolski, a town proud of its winemaking and viticulture traditions and the home of žlahtina wine, the celebration of St. Martin’s Day will come alive once again this year. The old folk custom of turning must into young wine through a symbolic “baptism” will be celebrated, as is tradition, on Saturday, November 11th at the Cultural Centre, starting at 8:00 PM.

The celebration will begin with a large wine exhibition featuring amateur winemakers from the region, followed by entertainment and the ceremonial wine baptism. This year, the musical entertainment will be provided by the Quartet Unique, and visitors can look forward to a rich gastronomic and wine offering. We won’t reveal everything just yet, but one lucky visitor could win a trip to southern Croatia or enjoy delicious prosciutto through a generous raffle. The raffle will feature truly valuable prizes for a few lucky winners to take home.

The amateur wine exhibition starts at 8:00 PM and will last approximately two hours. All wines will be available for free tasting with the prior purchase of a special Martinje wine glass with a pouch, for just 5 euros. In addition to the amateur wines, all other drinks and food will be provided by a local caterer at the Cultural Centre.

The event is organized by the Association of Friends of Grapes and Wine “Ružica Vinodola”, with co-organizers including the Tourist Board of the City of Novi Vinodolski, the City of Novi Vinodolski, the Cultural Centre of Novi Vinodolski, and Pavlomir d.o.o.

We look forward to seeing you at the St. Martin’s Day celebration in Novi Vinodolski, to celebrate this beloved tradition and enjoy all the magic it brings! Let’s raise our glasses together in gratitude for the precious fruits of the earth!
