In the heart of picturesque Novi Vinodolski, a town rich in history and cultural heritage, the magical spirit of Christmas with Advent will arrive once again this year. The Advent season of joy, giving, and gathering quietly tiptoes into the town’s streets and squares, filling them with laughter and happiness.

The Christmas fairy tale of Novi Vinodolski will begin on December 3rd with the lighting of Christmas lights, while music and a special children’s program will fill the hearts of all visitors. The town’s streets and squares will transform into a true magic, adorned with thousands of lights and Christmas decorations, creating a fairy-tale atmosphere as children’s smiles spread from Santa Claus’s House, and soft seasonal music drifts through the city center’s alleys. Is there anything more wonderful for children than meeting the white-bearded Santa Claus to tell him all their wishes? Magical story sessions will inspire every child to become the hero of their own holiday tale. Here, nestled in the warmth of the Advent surroundings, children will discover the magic of creating their own Christmas wonder.

Creative workshops in ceramics and crystal resin will give adults the opportunity to make their own decorations that will adorn their homes during the holidays, while further awakening creativity with a glass of fine wine at the Wine and Paint workshops. Numerous workshops, quizzes, and theatrical performances will complement the entire December program, while from December 14th, every weekend the sounds of joyful Christmas songs and the enticing aroma of mulled wine will spread in the special Advent area, Advent at Mažuranić. Try Smail-aga, Vitorog, Pozdrav Vinodolu sausage, or Čengić stew—dishes inspired by the history of Novi Vinodolski—available at charming wooden huts of Advent at Mažuranić. On December 16th, be part of a special gastro show by renowned chef Damir Tomljanović, where hosts will prepare cod under his watchful eye, and visitors will enjoy the fish delicacies that grace every table on Christmas Eve.

Many musicians will turn Advent at Mažuranić into a true symphony of Christmas notes and joyful melodies. Over three Advent weekends starting on Thursday, visitors will be surrounded by the most beautiful music taking them on an emotional journey. The festive spirit will be taken care of by Bosutski bećari, Klapa Kampanel, the groups Face and Mirakul, Grooversi and Techno Vikings, as well as numerous DJs. Their music will inspire you to dance and celebrate, creating an euphoric atmosphere, while Damir Kedžo’s Christmas songs will add a special shine and warm ambiance to the Advent.

This year, the Kindergarten Fijolica and the Ivan Mažuranić Elementary School will also have their Advent story. Their yards will come alive with performances, concerts, mulled tea and fritule, lots of lights, and experiences for all senses and all ages—small and large visitors alike.

As the last days of the old year slowly come to an end, Novi Vinodolski prepares for a unique New Year’s celebration. Traditionally, the New Year is welcomed at noon with a toast. It is a celebration enjoyed by the whole town. The aroma of hunter’s goulash and homemade sausages, mulled white and red wine, special offers at the Advent huts, accompanied by lively music on two stages and children’s animation programs, will engage the whole town.
