On Thursday, 17 August, starting at 20:00 at the Pavlomir Wine House, the nineteenth edition of “The Wine Rose of Vinodol” will begin. This renowned event has earned its status in Croatia by honoring the most skilled and dexterous young woman in viticulture, winemaking, and domestic arts — seamlessly bridging the past and present of the Vinodol region.

This year’s edition features 12 contestants from various parts of Croatia. Over the course of a three-day spectacle, they will compete in nine disciplines that are thematically arranged. On the first evening, the girls will take part in three vineyard-related competitions. The show will be hosted by Mario Lipovšek Battifiaca and Irena Grdinić, with musical performance by the group Prava stvar. On the second day, held at Frankopan Square in Novi Vinodolski, the contestants will compete in domestic-themed games — hosted by Irena Grdinić and entertained by the musical group Point. The grand finale will be held on Saturday, 19 August, in the Old Town of Novi Vinodolski, where the final three disciplines involving wine pouring and presentation will take place. Mario Lipovšek Battifiaca will host, and Giuliano & Diktatori will entertain the audience. Around 23:00, the 2025 “The Wine Rose of Vinodol” will be announced by the judging panel, along with the award for the most charming contestant, chosen by both the contestants and judges.

The first evening in the vineyards at Pavlomir promises to be spectacular, thanks to the charming setting, excellent wine, and delightful gastronomic offerings. A special photo point will be available so that anyone who wishes can take home a memorable snapshot of this unique event. To facilitate attendance, a shuttle train will run between Korzo hrvatskih branitelja and Pavlomir (round-trip) every thirty minutes from 18:30 to 23:00.

The following two days will continue in Novi, where — beyond the competition and entertainment— the Vinodol Law Square will host demonstrations of traditional crafts, a charming wooden carousel for children, and a fair with local products and souvenirs. The organizers will also present the “Kvarner Wines” wine festival, where regional and indigenous wines may be tasted, including the special sparkling rosé “The Wine Rose of Vinodol,” named after the event. Additional photo points will be set up so visitors can beautifully capture their experience. Traditionally, Ružica Vinodola would leave the vineyard wearing a wreath of vines — during the event, attendees can buy floral wreaths and stroll through town adorned with this lovely floral detail, honoring the old custom.

Tena Peričić, director of the Novi Vinodolski Tourist Board, introduces this year’s edition as follows:

“All is ready for another Wine Rose of Vinodol — the most beautiful event through which we introduce visitors to our history and culture, the valley of wine (vallis vinearia). This year, we’ve enriched the event with new content, a new game, and a new location for the second evening, surely drawing in new guests. I’m especially delighted to say that there will be a familiar face on the jury on the first evening, though we won’t reveal who — we invite you to join us in Pavlomir for the opening, and in the city center for the second and third nights. I’m sure you’ll leave our town enriched with a beautiful and unforgettable experience!”

The Wine Rose of Vinodol is organized by the Novi Vinodolski Tourist Board and the Vinodolska Municipality Tourist Board, co-organized with the City of Novi Vinodolski, Vinodolska Municipality, the Cultural Center of Novi Vinodolski, Pavlomir Wine House, the Ružica Vinodola Association, Kvarner Wines association, and Omnes agency. The event is under the patronage of the Croatian Ministry of Agriculture, with support from the Croatian Tourist Board, Kvarner Tourist Board, Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, and sponsorship from agencies Katarina Line, Adria Mare, Arriva, gallery Drveni val, Primus Physio, and Studio Nijansi.
