Novi Vinodolski Welcomed a Belgian Journalist Couple
At the beginning of June, Belgian travel journalists, bloggers, and photographers Myriam Thys and Werner Gladines visited Kvarner. In collaboration with the Croatian National Tourist Board office in Belgium, a customized program was prepared for them based on their preferences.
Their visit focused on gastronomy, culture, nature, and discovering the islands. From June 5th to 9th, the journalist couple visited Lošinj, Cres, Opatija, Rijeka, Novi Vinodolski, Rab, Lopar, Vrbnik, and Krk.
After touring Krk, Lošinj, Cres, Opatija, and Rijeka, they stopped in Novi Vinodolski on Tuesday, June 7th, on their way to Rab. Staying true to the travel themes, the journalists took a guided walk through the town center, noted interesting historical facts, strolled the charming old town streets leading to the Church of St. Philip and James, enjoyed beautiful views, and discovered many local customs and stories the town is proud of.
Following the town tour and a walk along the picturesque marina and seaside promenade, their next stop was Pavlomir Winery. Although Belgium is known for its beer production, its citizens also enjoy a fair amount of wine, making this visit particularly interesting. They tasted various wines and sparkling wines, including the indigenous Žlahtina variety, which stood out as a favorite. With their wine knowledge, it was insightful to hear their impressions of Kvarner’s wines. After the tasting, the journalists enjoyed a seafood-focused meal before continuing their journey toward the island of Rab.
“It was a pleasure to present our Novi to this respected journalist couple, who truly paid attention to every detail and enjoyed their visit. Novi has a lot to offer all year round, and I hope visits like these help spread the word about us – not only for the high season but also in the pre- and post-season months. While we currently don’t have many Belgian visitors in terms of arrivals and overnight stays, I believe that this can change through these types of visits,” said Tena Peričić, Director of the Tourist Board of Novi Vinodolski.
