WORLD TOURISM DAY IN NOVI VINODOLSKI MARKED BY EDUCATION AND TASTING
As tourism remains one of the world’s most important economic sectors, the Novi Vinodolski Tourist Board once again joined in celebrating World Tourism Day. On Wednesday, September 27, numerous activities were held across Novi Vinodolski to raise awareness of tourism’s importance and its closely related sectors.
The celebrations began in the morning with an educational performance titled “Blue Planet” at the Cultural Center, aimed at younger schoolchildren and kindergarteners. The children learned about the importance of preserving seas, rivers, lakes, and the broader environment of our Earth. Through interactive storytelling, an actress dressed as a jellyfish explained how rain forms, how seas and rivers originated, and what children can do to reduce litter and protect local flora and fauna. The loud laughter and enthusiastic applause at the end showed how much the performance was appreciated.
At 12:30 PM, an educational workshop on Cultural Heritage of Our Region was held at the City Council for the 8th graders of Ivan Mažuranić Primary School. Tourism Board Director Tena Peričić expressed hope that the students would gain a deeper understanding of their city’s heritage and become its promoters. Acting museum director Daria Bažok presented the significance of cultural heritage for tourism, and the city’s museum and gallery offered free access to its permanent exhibition for tourists that day.
The Pavlomir Wine House also welcomed many visitors to its wine tasting event, offering a platter of prosciutto and cheese and tasting of three wine varieties for a promotional price of €10.
“On World Tourism Day, through these programs, we aimed to instill awareness in children of all ages about the importance of tourism and introduce them to this fascinating and dynamic profession. I hope we’ve succeeded and that some may become our future colleagues. We also ensured our older visitors could enjoy a wine tasting at Pavlomir Wine House,” said Tena Peričić.
