11. December 2023.
On Friday, December 8, in the packed hall of the Royal Hotel in Opatija, the Kvarner Tourism Day was organized by the Kvarner Tourist Board. At the traditional ceremony, County Prefect Zlatko Komadina and Kvarner Tourist Board Director Irena Peršić Živadinov hosted numerous tourism workers, companies, and institutions from the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, with special awards presented to the best among them.
Among the many recognitions, Novi Vinodolski received three prestigious awards. This year, the city celebrated 145 years of organized tourism, and on this occasion, both the City of Novi Vinodolski and its Tourist Board were granted special awards, underscoring the importance of this historic city not only within Croatia but also more broadly. Novi Vinodolski, a city rich in historical heritage and natural beauty, has attracted visitors for centuries with its unique charm. It is a destination that preserves its past while looking toward the future. Last year, the city marked several significant anniversaries, including 735 years of the Vinodol Code, 30 years of the summer carnival, and 25 years of winemaking in Pavlomir.
As part of the awards ceremony, the best individuals in tourism were recognized through the “Person – Key to Success, Employee of the Year” award. Tea Švob, a police officer from the Crikvenica Police Station, received recognition in the police officer category. Tea Švob was nominated for the Kvarner Tourist Board award by the Tourist Board of the City of Novi Vinodolski, earning the accolade through her professionalism, composure, and service to citizens and numerous tourists. In April of this year, Tea participated in rescuing a drowning person from the sea in the Crikvenica area. She is also one of the few women in the police force serving as a “police officer – traffic motorcyclist,” and her dedication and professionalism have further enhanced the overall image of this city as a safe and hospitable destination.
The awards received are proof that Novi Vinodolski and its citizens live in synergy with tourism, representing a strong affirmation of the enduring dedication and quality of this picturesque city on the Adriatic coast.
