At the festive ceremony of the national Simply the Best awards for creativity, innovation, and advancement of tourism, held on April 9, 2025, in Sveti Martin Spa, Novi Vinodolski received two prestigious awards, confirming its excellence and dedication to developing a diverse tourism offer.

In the Events – Entertainment category, the Okolotorno event was awarded. Held every Wednesday throughout July and August, this event brings life to the old town of Novi Vinodolski and will celebrate its 10th anniversary this year. It offers visitors an authentic experience of local culture and tradition through historical reenactments, music performances, gastronomy, and souvenir stalls. The expert jury recognized Okolotorno for its creative development and rich content, presenting the cultural heritage and traditions of the local community while enriching the destination’s appeal.

The second award went to the souvenir “Novi Vinodolski in a Wooden Crate” by Drveni Val, in the category Items Inspired by Local Urban Themes and Features. Crafted from natural driftwood by Željka Komorčec, this unique piece was praised as an example of creativity and innovation in designing souvenirs that reflect the cultural, historical, and artistic heritage of urban environments and the identity of Croatia.

The awards were received by Tena Peričić, Director of the Novi Vinodolski Tourist Board, who accepted both recognitions — for Okolotorno and on behalf of Mrs. Komorčec for the unique souvenir.

The Simply the Best awards, presented for 15 years by the Association of Croatian Travel Agencies (UHPA), the Business Tourism Exchange PUT, and the magazine Way to Croatia, recognize excellence in improving tourism services and highlight best practices across the country. This year, PUT celebrates its 25th edition, featuring a record number of participants.

“I’m truly delighted that our event and unique souvenir have been recognized with these awards, as they help promote Novi Vinodolski,” said Tena Peričić. “The PUT Tourism Exchange is an excellent opportunity to network with colleagues and media representatives from neighboring countries. Through the B2B workshop, I was able to promote Novi and discuss future activities for our destination. I congratulate the organizers for maintaining this great tradition and creating an ever more attended event each year.”

These recognitions further confirm the success and ongoing efforts to enhance Novi Vinodolski’s rich and attractive tourism offer, which continues to draw both domestic and international visitors.
