The Tourist Board of the City of Novi Vinodolski Provides Financial Support for Association Tourism Programs
5. March 2024.
In line with the 2024 Budget, the Tourist Board of the City of Novi Vinodolski has carried out a funding process for sponsorships of one-day and multi-day events, as well as co-financing of activities of general importance for the city’s tourism. As part of the public call—which for the first time was also open to companies and individuals, including tradespeople—21 associations and clubs expressed interest in financing various events aimed at enriching the cultural and sports offering, enhancing quality of life, and promoting the city’s identity both during and outside the main tourist season. Based on criteria outlined in the public call, funds were awarded, with special emphasis placed on events in the pre- and post-season in an effort to extend the tourist season.
Following the evaluation process, associations and clubs were granted a total of €17,510.00. With the awarded funds, associations plan to organize events covering a wide spectrum of community interests. Among the supported events are sports competitions such as regattas, football and bocce tournaments, Vespa and motorcycle meetups, and an Enduro race. Funding was also allocated for preserving folk traditions, including carnival customs within the city, and for traditional events such as Martinje, Christmas Eve fish distribution, and the New Year’s toast. The cultural aspect includes folk ensemble festivals and klapa (traditional vocal group) performances, offering visitors a rich artistic experience while preserving cultural heritage and promoting traditional values.
Financial support was also approved for numerous associations and clubs from the surrounding hinterland for organizing their patron saint celebrations and local festivities. Environmental protection and biodiversity were also considered, as part of the funding was directed toward an underwater cleanup action and events marking 30 years of the Red Cross.
The approved funds will enable and ease the organization of a diverse range of events, thereby enriching Novi Vinodolski’s tourist offer and reflecting the community’s dedication to developing tourism and creating memorable experiences for visitors. Despite a modest budget, we are proud to support major events such as the CRO RACE, which will once again pass through our city on October 3, showcasing Novi Vinodolski to the world. We are pleased that each year brings more high-quality events embraced by visitors—and for such initiatives, we will always find a way to provide support, said Tena Peričić, Director of the Tourist Board of the City of Novi Vinodolski.
