16th International Classical Music Festival “ART NOVI”
On Tuesday, July 21, 2026, as part of the 16th International Classical Music Festival Art Novi, a concert by violinist David Bento and guitarist Dinis Meirinhos will take place at the Church of St. Philip and St. James in Novi Vinodolski.
Dinis Meirinhos and David Bento are bound by an inseparable connection, not only due to the place where they studied but also because of their long-standing and intensive collaboration. Although they have developed their careers across different countries and projects, in recent years these two musicians have once again had the pleasure of performing together and sharing the stage with the same intensity as during their first performance.
Dinis Meirinhos studied at ESMAE in Porto, at the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest, completed his master’s degree with distinction at the University of Music and Theatre in Munich, and also at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg. He recorded the album Six String Chopin, in which he reimagined piano works by Frédéric Chopin for the rich spectrum of dark, bright, delicate, and vivid sounds of his instrument. He composes works for solo guitar and ensembles and also writes film music. As a performer, he regularly appears as a soloist and ensemble member across Europe – in Hungary, Germany, Austria, Spain, Portugal, and other countries. He lives in Salzburg, Austria, teaches in Prien am Chiemsee in Germany, and at the Musikum State Conservatory in Salzburg.
David Bento is among the most active Portuguese violinists of his generation, and in recent years he has performed in some of the world’s most prestigious concert halls, such as the Festspielhaus in Salzburg, the Paris Philharmonie, the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona, the Musikverein in Vienna, the Mozarteum in Salzburg, and the Musikverein in Graz. Since December 2021, he has been a member of Orchestra XXI and the string octet Oberton, an internationally recognized chamber ensemble. He currently lives in Graz, Austria, where he is developing his career as a concert violinist.
In concerts, he plays a Portuguese violin made by the master luthier Joaquim António Capele, and he is also supported by the Danish string manufacturer Jargar Strings.
