The Novljanski Gušti event, held at Ivan Mažuranić Square in Novi Vinodolski, once again brought together food lovers, wine enthusiasts, and culinary explorers from across the region. Organized under the auspices of the Novi Vinodolski Tourist Board and supported by the City and KTD Ivanj, ten local restaurants ensured that visitors could enjoy a unique fusion of traditional flavors and modern culinary creativity. The event reaffirmed its status as one of Kvarner’s most important gastronomic festivals and marked the conclusion of a vibrant summer season in this charming coastal town.

For a symbolic price of just 5 euros per portion, visitors had the opportunity to sample a variety of specialties, including squid brudet with polenta and lamb’s lettuce, handmade pljukanci with Istrian boškarin ragout, fuži pasta with forest mushrooms and prosciutto, the “Ružica Vinodola” pork chop with pljukanci, marinated sardines with potato salad and olive oil dressing, and Vinodol’s signature dish – lukovnjača, a delicate fish and shrimp roll in lime sauce. Fresh, local ingredients were at the heart of every dish, and carefully balanced flavors delighted even the most discerning palates.

Sweet tooths were not left out – the dessert selection featured homemade apple strudels, fig and carob pie, creamy custard in a glass, and the popular Vinodolska kocka, a layered cake made with sponge, ricotta cheese, and figs. Each dessert carried a distinctive homemade touch, emphasizing the importance of local tradition and ingredients.

Entertainment was provided by the upbeat Replay Band, while host Gracian Čop guided guests through the evening, introducing the chefs and highlighting the wide range of food and drink on offer. Laughter and lively conversations filled the square as guests enjoyed each bite paired with a glass of fine wine.

Local winery Pavlomir was in charge of the wine selection, offering sparkling Pavlomir Geni, Žlahtina, Cabernet Sauvignon, Graševina, and the rosé Ružica Vinodola. The expertly paired food and wine created a harmonious experience that impressed even the most dedicated foodies.

Alongside locals, many tourists and visitors from nearby towns praised the event’s organization and variety.
