Klenovica, a small coastal town known for its fishing and scampi-catching tradition, will once again open its heart this year to all lovers of the sea, local gastronomy, and authentic experiences.

While selected restaurants of the Crikvenica-Vinodol Riviera celebrate the flavours of Kvarner scampi from May 15 to 31 through special menus and exclusive dinners, Klenovica will offer visitors something truly special on Friday, May 23, as part of the Scampi Festival – an authentic experience of life by the sea through Scampi Fishing with Guests and the Scampi Festival. The event brings together tradition, the sea, and gastronomy, all deeply rooted in this small fishing village for generations.

The programme begins at 8:00 AM on the waterfront in Klenovica, when registered participants will depart by boat to the locations where the scampi traps are placed. As the morning sun lights up the open sea and the scent of salt fills the air, visitors will have the opportunity to observe the catching of Kvarner scampi up close – from the preparation of the traps to their retrieval from the sea. Accompanied by a guide, they will discover the story of man and the sea, a story woven from patience, experience, and deep respect for nature.

Klenovica is a place where scampi are not just a gastronomic delicacy, but part of the local identity and way of life. A place where scampi go directly from the trap to the guest’s plate, carrying with them the authentic taste of the sea and tradition.

From 10:00 AM onwards, the Klenovica waterfront will transform into a true coastal gastronomic stage during the Scampi Festival. Visitors can enjoy the aromas of freshly prepared scampi dishes, a glass of Žlahtina wine, a relaxed seaside atmosphere, and the sounds of Klapa Intriga, whose performance will further enrich this authentic Mediterranean experience.

Various scampi dishes will be available at a promotional price of €10.00, and the entire event will provide an opportunity for socialising, enjoyment, and discovering the rich gastronomic and fishing heritage of Klenovica.

Participation in the Scampi Fishing with Guests programme is possible with prior registration via e-mail at info@tz-novi-vinodolski.hr, and the number of places is limited. The excursion with tasting costs €15.00 per person and includes a boat trip to the scampi fishing locations, an introduction to the traps and scampi-catching methods, tasting of one scampi dish, and one drink.

For all those who do not manage to secure a place on the boat, the Scampi Festival remains open to all visitors eager to enjoy top-quality flavours, good music, and the genuine atmosphere of the Adriatic coast.
