Klenovica, a small coastal town known for its fishing and shrimp-catching tradition, will open its heart this year to all lovers of the sea, local gastronomy, and authentic experiences.

While selected restaurants along the Crikvenica–Vinodol Riviera celebrate the flavors of Kvarner shrimp from May 15 to 31 with special menus and exclusive dinners, Klenovica will offer something special on Friday, May 23, as part of the Shrimp Festival – an authentic experience of life by the sea through the program “Shrimp Fishing with Guests” and the Shrimp Feast. The event brings together tradition, the sea, and gastronomy that has been nurtured in this small fishing village for generations.

The program begins at 8:00 a.m. on the Klenovica waterfront, when registered participants set off by boat to locations where shrimp traps are placed. While the morning sun lights up the open sea and the scent of salt fills the air, visitors will be able to observe the shrimp catch up close – from preparing the traps to lifting them from the sea. Accompanied by guides, they will discover the story of man and sea, a story woven from patience, experience, and deep respect for nature.

Klenovica is a place where shrimp is not just a culinary delicacy, but part of identity and way of life. A place where shrimp from the trap goes directly onto the guest’s plate, carrying the authentic taste of the sea and tradition.

From 10:00 a.m., the Klenovica waterfront transforms into a true coastal gastro stage as part of the Shrimp Feast. Visitors can enjoy the aromas of freshly prepared dishes – from traditional specialties such as grilled shrimp and buzara to more modern combinations like shrimp and strawberry risotto – along with a glass of Žlahtina wine, a relaxed seaside atmosphere, and the sounds of Klapa Intriga, further enriching this authentic Mediterranean experience.

Various shrimp dishes will be available for tasting at a promotional price of €10.00, and the entire event will be an opportunity for socializing, enjoyment, and discovering the rich gastronomic and fishing heritage of Klenovica.

Participation in the “Shrimp Fishing with Guests” program is possible with prior registration at info@tz-novi-vinodolski.hr, and places are limited. The price of the excursion with tasting is €15.00 per person and includes a boat trip to the fishing sites, introduction to the traps and fishing methods, as well as tasting one shrimp dish and one drink.

For those who do not manage to secure a boat spot, the Shrimp Feast is open to all visitors seeking top-quality flavors, good music, and an authentic coastal atmosphere.
